I haven’t visited as many countries as I would like to, but there are a few. One of my favourites is Austria. Why Austria? First of all, it impressed me with its small villages which are very clean, well organized and quiet. Every house there had flowers at the windows and the grass was perfectly cut in front of each one. And also the roads are very good in this country.
And then it came Vienna, the capital city of Austria. From the beginning it impressed me with its architecture. Old buildings, kept perfectly preserved, meet the new ones, but matching each other, narrow streets, big plazas and a lot of green parks where you were allowed to sit on the glass and enjoy a sunny day. In the old city there are a lot of imperial palaces which are huge, grandiose buildings that make you think about how small we are on this world. I’m still wondering how did they built them in that period of history. And are not just big , but they have a lot of sculpted decorations and very big stone statues on the rooftops.

As must see tourist attractions in Vienna I would recommend Hofburg (The Imperial Palace, which today accommodates The National Library of Austria , the Imperial Treasury, a Museum of Ethnography and the famous Spanish Riding School. Schonbrunn Palace with its impressive surrounding gardens and Gloriette is another point of interest in Vienna. There are many attractions at Schonbrunn, which includes a labyrinth, the Palm House, the famous Vienna’s zoo, cafés and restaurants. Not to far from Schonbrunn I met the Parliament, one more grandiose building, and the Rathaus (Vienna’s city hall).
Vienna also has a lot of impressive churches, one of the most famous being Saint Stephen’s Cathedral. For a long time it was a the highest building in Europe, measuring almost 137 m, and it was built in 1147. If you want to get your energy levels back again, I recommend stopping at one of the many confectioneries and enjoy a big slice of chocolate cake and a famous Viennese coffee. As you probably know, Vienna is a chocolate lover’s paradise, and for a good reason.
